Pompano Beach, Florida - March 5, 2008

I had a very interesting day diving from my kayak here in Pompano Beach.  I was just finishing catching a lobster when I saw an octopus coming toward me.  I got my camera ready because I had seen a spotted eel in a hole where the octopus was about to go.  When the octopus went over the ledge, the eel quickly ate two of the legs.  A grouper (too small to shoot) was also watching for some thing to eat.  The next picture shows the octopus back on top of the ledge with the spotted eel in the cloud of debris in the bottom left corner back in its hole.  Next picture is a closer shot with the last showing the two white areas where the two of the eight legs were just eaten by the spotted eel.

It was too bad I did not have time to put my camera on video because that would have shown the story much better.  It was a good day with 2 lobsters and a very nice hog fish for the one tank dive from the kayak.
